World Book Day 2016
College Town Junior School celebrate World Book Day in style.
On Thursday 3rd March, pupils and staff at CTJS pulled out all the stops to celebrate World Book Day. Children and adults came to school dressed as characters from a favourite book, and we had the chance to show our outfits together in a special assembly.
Little Red Riding Hood appointed secret agents to teach a poem all about reading to as many other pupils as possible; we then came together at the end of the day to see how we did!
Throughout the day, pupils had lots of book based activities to enjoy, and also had the chance to listen to some of their favourite books being read aloud by teachers around the school.
Here is a copy of the poem- long may it continue to inspire children and adults alike.
Words in a book are like birds in a cage:
Leave them unread and they’re dead on the page,
But free them and see them fly off, and then soar,
Into heads, into hearts, into dreams, and much more.
So find a good book, start reading it, do!
And the words, like birds, will start singing for you.
We would like to say thank you to all families and children for making such an effort with some amazing costumes-the children all looked fabulous! Check out our photo gallery for more pictures.
