Year 4 at Oakwood
Year 4 residential visit to Oakwood Youth Challenge in Wokingham.
Year 4 had a fabulous few days at Oakwood recently. The time was action packed and the children had a brilliant time. We left school on Wednesday morning, full of excitement. After safety checks, the children were in to their first activity: they hit the activities with such courage, enthusiasm and determination. The children learnt so much while they were away: collaborative teamwork, partner work, facing their individual fears, leadership skills and for some the importance of listening to others ideas. Another key learning curve was being away from home, on a big sleepover with their friends. Mr Francis and I were so fortunate to be able to share the experience with the children and we all made memories that will last a lifetime. We are very proud of the children in our class; they were amazing!
Here are some of the quotes from the children about their time at Oakwood.
“We had the time of our lives! My overall favourite activity was Mountain Boarding. It was awesome!”
“I never thought I’d do the Flying Kiwi. It was scary but amazing!”
“We met all the instructors and they were all very kind.”
“Oakwood is a fun opportunity for you when you are in Year 4.”
“Some of the activities were nerve-wracking but you can do it!”
“On the last day, I was really sad that I had to go because it was the best residential ever! So, I will cherish the moments forever!”
