Inclement Weather Information

In the event of adverse Winter weather

We always aim to keep the school open in adverse weather, such as snow and icy conditions. However, on occasion this may not be manageable.

Sufficient staff may not be able to travel to school or conditions at school may present a significant threat to the health and safety of students.

If we cannot manage to open the school you will be notified in the following way:

Notices on the school's website.

Bracknell Forest Website:

http://www.bracknell-forest.gov.uk/schoolclosures

Please also look at Heart FM and Radio Berkshire as schools are advised to inform these radio stations in the event of closures.

We aim to place these notices as soon after 7.00am as possible

Parentmail - there may be delays due to use by many schools.

The decision to close a school is taken by the Headteacher, based on a local assessment of staff availability and site safety issues, and if possible in consultation with the Chair of Governors.

Warm weather advice and procedures.

Please ensure that during the warmer summer months  your child wears a hat  (preferably with a flap to protect the back of the neck)

Please also provide high factor sun cream that they can apply themselves and a water bottle. Children will be encouraged to refill their water bottles periodically during the school day to ensure they stay hydrated. Water bottles are available to purchase from the school office.

During prolonged and excessive hot weather children will only be outside for restricted periods during the day to ensure their health and well-being.  PE lessons will be assessed according to the temperature, and if necessary, held inside or substituted for an alternative lesson.
